How to Open an Urn
It may seem like a simple task, but this is one of the most frequent questions we get asked: “How do I open my Urn?”
Below are two short video tutorials addressing the question. One is for a typical wooden urn and the other for a typical granite, marble or stone urn. Generally urn makers create a product that allows the user to easily access the interior of the urn. Depositing the cremated remains should be an easy process.
The panel or plug will be easy to remove and replace without the need to apply any sealant. Though if you do choose to apply a sealant to the panel or plug, keep in mind the possibility that the remains may need to be removed should the urn need to be replaced or repaired in the future. Beeswax would be a good option for a sealant for the urn to provide a secure opening while yet allowing for future access.
If your urn is unusual or difficult to open, contact the manufacturer or drop us a line and we will do what we can to assist.
