Description

Saggar firing is a ceramic process in which the vessel is placed inside a sealed container along with combustible materials such as leaves, sawdust, straw, and, in this case, horsehair and feathers, which creates the unique design pictured. The combustion chamber, when fired and sealed, produces a reaction with the materials to create a unique finish on the exterior of the urn.

This urn—”Driftaway”—measures 7.7″ tall, 8″ wide, and holds 220 cubic inches of cremated remains. If features a driftwood and vintage brass finial on a top-opening lid.
